SAINT JOSEPH CHAPEL |
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WAS FORWARDED TO US BY A DESCENDENT OF THE CHAPEL'S BUILDER |
The story passed down to me is, my great-grandfather, Joseph Lodestro, was badly injured in a horse accident. He and his family prayed that if he survived he would build a church on the site of the accident. He survived and built it. I am including a photograph of my great-grandfather from approximately 1910. He is the mustachioed man on the left. The church photos are from approximately 1930, then again in 1978 when my father, mother, and I drove on a vacation from upstate NY and found the site. Just wanted to add a story to the history of this little chapel.
